At the 67th session of the UN General Assembly the representative of Belarus in this organization has announced that our country does not support resolution on UN Council report on human rights.
The council of the permanent mission of Belarus to the UN Larisa Belskaia highlighted that such a decision was made for the reasons of principal nature, including those connected with the adoption of the resolution that founded the politically motivated warrant of special speaker to the Belarus by the Council in July, 2012, informs Belarusan Foreign Ministry Information Service.
“Both the resolution and the warrant of the Special Rapporteur to Belarus are imposed on the international community by the group of EU countries, that promote their political agenda in the Council. The main goal of the resolution and the warrant established by it is the purposeful anti-government activities in Belarus under the UN cover”, - declared Larisa Belskaia in her speech.
The representative of Belarus expressed concern by an expending practice of using the similar decisions for putting political pressure on sovereign states and employing double standards in the Human Rights Committee practice ad captandum separate groups of countries.
In conclusion Larisa Belskaia declared that Belarus intends to continue constructive cooperation with the UN Council and its special thematic procedures for direct reward purposes and for the defence of all the categories of human rights in the countries all over the world without exception.
Belarus will also develop cooperation with those states that seek to bring back the Human Rights Council on the path of development as a main UN human rights body, the body that is impartial and trustworthy, reports the Foreign Ministry.
