Aliaksandr Kullinkovich: Lukashenka has taught us all to be afraid

The frontman for the “Neuro Dubel” Aliaksandr Kullinkovich wasn’t satisfied with the President’s assent to answer the question about the existence of the prohibited musicians.

Belarusan musician hasn’t been following the course of the five-hour press-conference Aliaksandr Lukashenka gave: “I have absolutely no interest in these events. What for? Because I see what our president does and it is not that important what he says. Everything from what he is saying is radically different from the real state of affairs. It is enough to look around and no president talks are necessary after that”.
Let us recall that at the very beginning of the press-conference Aliaksandr Lukashenka unexpectedly for many people answered a number of questions that famous experts from different spheres of life voiced beforehand. Notably, Aliaksandr Kullinkovich was interested whether the President of Belarus does at all know about the black lists of Belarusan performers that exist in the country.
The head of the state rushed to state that he has nothing to do with it: “I don’t know about the black lists of Belarusan performers. I will ask the Head of the Administration of the President and his First Deputy Radzkou to report me on these black lists. I would like to see whom we disturb. Believe me; I haven’t instructed anyone to do that”.
“I find this answer more negative than positive. It seems that we all and I in particular will be subject to even bigger persecution. Yes, this ban is the limit, but I can be taken away to the forest and shot down”, - expressed his opinion Aliaksandr Kullinkovich in the interview with the EuroBelarus Information Service.
The musician doesn’t believe that the situation with the black lists will be reviewed: “It happened so in the life of Belarusans that lots of their questions can be resolved only by the President. It sounds seditious, but Lukashenka is my President as well. I didn’t vote for him, but he is the President of my country. Unfortunately, he taught everyone around him to fear. And even those people that Lukashenka has mentioned when answering my question are afraid of him. This fear is all around us – everyone is afraid of what might happen”.
Kullinkovich believes that “only in the fairy tales there can be kings who appear before their subjects from time to time. Our leaders don’t need to associate themselves with the common people; they live in their own world. The President Lukashenka has very little to do with the people, but he obviously believes in what he is reported”.

What other questions can I ask the President? – the musician wonders. – I don’t have questions, as even my question about the lists was left without an answer. What was voiced during the press-conference is not an answer. This position won’t change anything as everyone is afraid of everything. The officials live by the maxim “we’d better not do anything than do something and get it in the neck”. This is daily politics of all our system. Each official thinks: God forbid anything to happen! Thus, we’d better not do anything – accordingly, anything will happen. That is why we have neither proper exhibitions, nor concerts, nor performances - anything at all. We can sing folk songs, it is even honorable. And I will continue to play my music - sappy one, but mine”.
