Konrad Pawlik is appointed new Poland’s Ambassador to Belarus

For the last two years Konrad Pawlik has been coordinating Poland’s foreign donations, cooperation with Poles Abroad, Eastern politics, and security issues.

Foreign Minister Witold Waszczykowski handed Konrad Pawlik his nomination by the President of the Republic of Poland as Ambassador of the Republic of Poland to the Republic of Belarus, press service of the Poland’s Foreign Ministry informs.

The diplomatic term of Dr. Pawlik’s predecessor, Leszek Szerepka, came to an end in mid-August 2015.

Konrad Pawlik is an economist and Professional diplomat. He joined the ministry in 2007. From 2010 to 2012, Mr Pawlik worked in the Permanent Representation of the Republic of Poland to the OECD in Paris. In 2012-2014 he was Deputy Director of the Eastern Department at the MFA, and from 2014 – Director of the Eastern Department as well as the foreign minister’s plenipotentiary for the Eastern Partnership. In 2014-2015 Mr Pawlik was Undersecretary of State at the MFA responsible for development cooperation, the Polish diaspora, Eastern policy, and security.

The newly appointed ambassador does not speak Belarusian, but he is fluent in English, Russian and knows Korean.

The ambassador is expected to arrive in Belarus within the next two weeks. His first task is to organise Witold Waszczykowski’s first visit to our country.
