Iryna Zhyhar: BOWW is planning to raise women’s competitiveness in the labour market

Belorussian Organization of Working Women will elaborate a national program aiming to develop flexible working arrangements for women in order to raise their competitive capacity in the labour market.

This was reported to the EuroBelarus Information Service by the chairperson of the Republican Public Association "Belorussian Organization of Working Women" (BOWW) Iryna Zhyhar.
She said that 2012 became the year of program priorities’ reconsideration for BOWW. The main topic that will be presumably developed is the increase of women’s competitive capacity in the labour market at the expense of the development of the flexible working arrangements.
- We managed to work out and test a respective study cycle “The work I choose”. These were the results of the work which showed that today entrepreneurial initiatives of women who are seeking to start their business need support, - noted Iryna Zhyhar.
In 2012 BOWW within its national program “No day in vain” continued its active work on psychosocial adaptation of cancer patients.
BOWW initiative found government’s support; in the Ministry of Health and in the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection in the first place, as it corresponds with the National action plan to provide gender equality in Belarus for 2011-2015. Activists managed to launch the process of creating support groups for cancer patients in six Belarusan towns. And towards the end of 2012 it became obvious that the frames of BOWW are rather narrow for the development of this sphere of activity due to the specifics of the statutory goals and objectives.
- Though last year we didn’t manage to involve all the members of organization into the program work, the fact that there appeared people who are ready to succeed me as a leader of the organization due to my plans to concentrate exclusively on the oncological program is inspiring, - said Iryna Zhyhar.
There are three main directions for 2013among the plans of the Belorussian Organization of Working Women.
First, it is to work out National Program of BOWW aiming at the development of the flexible working arrangements for women and to appear before the bodies of state administration with this program.
Secondly, it is to extend the territory of actions for the active cancer patients to five more towns, to work out and to make a decision of how to become a stable state and medical partner in the fight against cancer and how to involve business in it.
Thirdly, it is to develop a strategic plan of BOWW’s development and to start the training of new leaders.

- We need to start thinking globally and to act locally. And do it in a highly professional way, - believes Iryna Zhyhar. – We need experts and consultants of our new labour market program for that. What concerns oncological program, there are no problems with the expert support. Above all, may God give cancer patients enough strength and health to implement our plans.
