Belarus is a busy tourist destination hidden in the eastern half of Europe. Though it is easy to get there, it is important to understand how the place works so that you are able to see Belarus without much difficulty. The public transportation here is quite cheap. However, do not just look at the prices, and come to a conclusion, as the transport is one of the efficient systems in this part of the world. It is a better idea if you buy tickets before the date of journey, however, if you are traveling by the taxis or marshrukta (mini-bus), it is not necessary to buy tickets in advance.
One of the main problems that are usually faced by the tourists is the language problem. Even though the locals have studied English at the school level, you might have problems in communication. Therefore if you are visiting at a future date, just fax your documents in advance so that they are able to translate them in their language and your process of visa issuance is eased. A mere call on the phone line will not work in this case.
Green lakes, beautiful plains, ancient palaces, cloisters and scenic forests are the eye catching locations of Belarus. It?s a perfect place for nature lovers as well as sports lovers. The 16th century catholic churches remain highlighted in tourist?s trip books. And talking about landscapes, tourists could well be amazed with the fabulous nature?s beauty. The Belarusian lowlands (Paliessie) with lakes of very low banks, are an absolute treat to watch. On other side, the northern part of Belarus is completely an upland region with beautiful glaciers. The small cities around Minsk are stunning and remind the chronicles of Soviet kingdom and reflect its spectacular history. There are lots of resorts and clubs available around the country especially for skiing, hiking and many other sports. The nightlife here is awesome with wine and brew, which is available round the clock at bars in Minsk.
Belarus has numerous ATM machines in the main cities. And it is important that you carry cash in your wallet. This is because most of the shopping places do not accept credit cards. So you have to use cash instead. The local currency is Belarusian Ruble and you can find its current price at any of the internet exchange sites. There are many currency exchange counters in Belarus. Here you can easily get your currency exchanged according to the present rates. Many shops and other places accept Euros and dollars. So the Europeans and Americans need not bother!
No departure tax is levied. Visitors need to complete the customs declaration form and should keep it with them till they depart. According to Belarus custom duties, tourists can import goods up to the value of one thousand dollars; however tourists are not allowed to carry weapons, fruits and vegetables. And in same way export of precious gems and metals is also prohibited strictly. Visas must be registered at hotels if tourists hire some local cars.
