EU project restores kindergarten facilities for local communities in Belarus

Two kindergartens in Belarus have opened the school year with new sports and games facilities provided under an EU-funded project to Combat the Negative Effects of the Chernobyl Disaster in Belarus, according to a press release from the EU Delegation to Belarus.
 
At Kindergarten No. 2 in Khoiniki, in the Gomel Region, the project spent more than US $9,000 for the renovation of the gym facilities and music hall. On top of renovation works, the project also provided the equipment of a kindergarten gym and playground, purchasing new sports and musical equipment, chairs, a laptop, a projector with a screen, and a stereo system.
 
For the kindergarten in the village of Sudkava (the only one in that locality), equipment for physical education and games was purchased and installed on the playgrounds, outdoor amenities were manufactured, and flowerbeds were made. As a result, 45 local infants obtained a wonderful opportunity to strengthen their health and improve their frame of mind, the press release said.
 
Experience of the project implementation in Chernobyl-affected area shows that many residents of contaminated districts actively and enthusiastically participated in solving problems of their districts and such projects could change people’s lives, the press release said. (ENPI Info Centre)
