Belarus' gold and foreign exchange reserves in accordance with the International Monetary Fund’s standards) increased by $1,033.3 million in June to $6,426 million as of July 1.
The reserves shrank by $1,255 million in the first five months of 2014, according to the National Bank of Belarus (NBB).
The June increase in the reserves was due to the fact that the Belarusian government received a $2-billion bridge loan from Russia’s VTB Bank on June 26. Besides, the fact that Belarus financial ministry placed foreign currency bonds in the domestic market also helped to increase the level of gold and foreign exchange reserves.
The Belarusian government has invited the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) to prepare five large state-owned companies for privatization.
