The required turnout on the parliamentary elections was reached by the election commissions’ workers, not by ideologists, capable to mobilize the people.
This opinion was expressed by the head of the Board of the InternationalConsortium EuroBelarus, philosopher and methodologistUladzimir Matskevich.
“It was done exactly by their reckoning. To date, it has become clear that the authorities have no capacity to mobilize the population. In general, people have nothing to vote for, no one to choose from, there was nothing to defend, either. Therefore, the authorities havedonealmost no efforts to simulate the elections", said the expert.
"In addition, it was decided not to be shy of fraud, not to hesitate in organizing rigged elections - in general, nothing particularly to hide as the authorities have nointerest in recognizing the elections. They are really aware that they cannot comply with any democratic demands, thus they can not count on recognition. There are no chances, so what pretending for?", stressed Uladzimir Matskevich.
He believes that the weak mobilization of supporters is not a problem for the government. "The Belarusan authorities are not going to build everlasting Belarus, theyare not going to stay in power forever. Dictatorship inthe country is personalistic, and thus it is limited by the lifetime of the ruler. If today's ruling elite had plans for reconstruction of the country, its development, and for some prospects, then we could say that it was bad", he said.
"But for the authorities, it is probably a good thing. All is quite as in a cemetery. No noise, no protests, opposition parties do not take anyone into the streets. Nobody celebrates victory, because there is nothing to rejoice at, and no one is outraged by defeat because no one expected anything. Therefore, within the framework of the goals that the authorities set for themselves, under their understanding about what is good, and what is bad, the thing that has happenedis good for them", said Uladzimir Matskevich.
"It is no coincidence that Lukashenko has begun to teach the Poles in his usual boorish manner how to organize elections", said the expert.
Uladzimir Matskevichsaid that the Belarusan authorities will not even try presenting the parliamentary elections in the best possible advantage. "Lukashenko will talk about the triumph of the Belarusan model, but giving the election for something that can reconcile the regime with West, the authorities will not even try doing", said the methodologist.
Speaking about the attempts of the opposition parties to submit non-recognition of the electionas their own achievement, the philosopher expressed conviction that "these elections could not be recognized under any circumstances, by any single democratic country, by any democratic observers".
Herewith, the non-recognition of the elections was obvious "in the very beginning of the campaign: there has been already a big number of violations, a big numberof deviations from democraticnorms, and so on". "If the goal was ignoring elections, then it would bethe same as setting the goal by the coming of winter, we are doing our best for it to come, it will surely come", compared Uladzimir Matskevich.
