Newly appointed British Ambassador arrived to Minsk

Ms Fionna Gibb has been appointed Her Majesty’s Ambassador to the Republic of Belarus in succession to Mr Bruce James Bucknell, who will be transferring to another Diplomatic Service appointment.
New Ambassador of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to the Republic of Belarus Fionna Gibb arrived to Minsk on January 24. On January 25, 2016 Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus Uladzimir Makei met with newly appointed Ambassador on the occasion of the beginning of her diplomatic mission in Belarus. The Minister accepted copies of credentials from F.Gibb and wished her success in her activity in our country.

Ms Gibb joined the FCO in 1990. She has worked in Berlin, Kyiv, Mogadishu, Basra, and Sana’a. Her most recent appointment was in London as Deputy Head of the Projects Task Force, covering a range of political, security and cultural issues.
He said Belarus would likely face economic tightening not only as a result of the coronavirus pandemic but also a Russian trade oil crisis that worsened this past winter.
