Due to the severe underrepresentation of women holding high level elected positions, i.e. Mayors, Vice Mayors and Councilors in local political leadership, they are the target group of this programme.
The fourth cohort of the ICLD International Training Programme is now open. The 18 months training starts with a workshop in April 2016, including a two weeks training in Sweden in October.
The Local Political Leaders training is targeting women politicians who hold an elected position in a local or regional assembly. Deadline for submitting your application is 31st of January.
“Local political leaders are key actors in the attainment of sustainable local democratic development. Due to the severe underrepresentation of women holding high level elected positions, i.e. Mayors, Vice Mayors and Councilors in local political leadership, they are the target group of this programme”, - the invitation to the program says.
The “Local Political Leaders - Capacitating Women in Politics” will focus exclusively on building the capacity of elected women leaders, believing that they have the potential to act as advocates and role models for other women who may consider making a career in politics.
The ICLD welcomes applications from municipalities and/or regions which are already involved in any if the ICLD activities, i.e. the Municipal Partnership Programme and/or representation in previous training programmes.
