The organizers claim that today it is impossible to form and promote the idea of civic consciousness by educational events only. That is why we should stake on media persons.
The festival is aimed at the presentation and discussion of Belarusan projects in the cultural and educational sphere with civil component, made in 2013.
When opening the event, Leanid Kalitsenia, the member of the Association of Life-Long Learning and Enlightenment Board, noted that “over the last year a lot of art projects, which could have been added to our festival were created in Minsk; however, we decided to include in the program only what we are related to”.
- We believe that the topic should be promoted further with consolidated efforts of people from different spheres. As we came to know, a lot of non-governmental organizations are working with this topic; however, this work is happening behind the scenes, without any exchange of experience. With this festival we tried to attract the attention of other sectors, so that more people would join our initiative. We declare that the Association of Life-Long Learning and Enlightenment is open for consolidation – we have been doing it and will continue doing it.
The festival has continued with the discussion, which only testified to the different approaches to the civicism.
Tatsiana Vadalazhskaja, expert from the Center for Social Innovation believes that “civicism is a specific correlation between the person and the country, the community; the feeling that you are a part of something great, a way of thinking. Questions arise when you broaden your outlook”.
