The Festival of Belarusan culture Embroidered Shirt Day was organized by a number of cultural civil initiatives and communities in the frames of the Assembly of NGOs “Let's Make It Better!” campaign.
The holiday aimed at uniting people and making oneself feel a real Belarusan was held on October 5 at the “DK” art club.
Even before the official opening of the festival, the club was completely filled with people. According to belngo.info, the organizers counted more than 1,500 visitors. The guests were very interested in the fair goods: embroidered shirts and T-shirts printed with the Belarusian ornament, mobile accessories with Belarusan symbols. The guests participated in competitions, played board games and applied henna tattoos with the help of professionals.
At the opening of the festival, social activist Franak Viachorka noted that all sorts of people came to the event, including craftsmen, writers and poets, simple workers, entrepreneurs and even Belarusan special forces operatives. This indicates that all of us are united by national ideas, Belarusan language and culture.
Among other things, magnets and notebooks from the initiative “The Belarusans”, clothing from manufacturers such as “Berahinia”, “Digital embroidery” and Sakolka.by, pottery, decorations, jewelry were presented at the fair.
In the evening, several music bands performed at the festival, such as “Unija”, “Recha” and others.
In the future, the Assembly of NGOs would like to hold a festival in a larger format as it proved to be highly popular among people. Also, there is an idea to organize this kind of festivals in other regions of Belarus so each of them has its own tempo.
