Pavel Lebedev and Mikhail Ezhel, former defense ministers of Ukraine, have been put on a wanted list. The latter was Ukraine’s ambassador to Belarus in 2013-2015.
Mikhail Ezhel has been staying in one of hospitals of the Belarusian Defense Ministry in Minsk for a long time, Ukraine’s Prosecutor General Anatoly Matios told journalists.
Ezhel is accused of embezzlement of public funds (at least $5 mln) and ruining the Ukrainian army when Ezhel was Minister of Defense, Belsat informs. In May 2015, Petro Poroshenko made a decision to recall Mikhail Ezhel from Belarus.
“If Ezhel is in the territory of another state and if he is reported to be ill, in accordance with our law, we have no other choice but to wait for his recovery. We have no opportunity to go to Belarus and check the fact of his illness,” Anatoly Matios said.
