Inaugural EURONEST parliamentary meeting without Belarus

The first EURONEST Parliamentary Meeting will be held in Brussels on 3 May, bringing together legislators from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine. The meeting will be not attended by the representatives from Belarus.
The participation of legislators from Belarus has been temporarily suspended in the framework of the EU’s sanctions imposed against Belarus’ leadership and president Aleksandr Lukashenko.
According to a press release, the main goal of the meeting is to adopt the rules of procedure, elect co-presidents, the bureau and working groups, and sign the constituent act. It is expected that European Parliament President Jerzy Buzek and the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton will attend.
EURONEST's role is to provide a parliamentary dimension to the EU's Eastern Partnership, part of the EU's Neighbourhood Policy. It brings together 60 MEPs and 10 MPs from each of the Eastern Partner Countries.
