Bandazhevsky demonstrates proof of “Chernobyl” diseases

In a university club of Weimar (Germany) a meeting with Belarusian professor Yuri Bandazhevsky has occurred. The organizer of the meeting, the head of the local Chernobyl organization Hartmut Koeppler thinks that precisely here, in Thuringia, the famous Belarusian doctor and scientist will live and work after his contract in France expires.
Bandazhevsky has brought a manuscript of his future book to the meeting. According to the Thüringische Landeszeitung, this scientific research work contains proof of harm that exposure to low-level radiation causes to a human being. Illustrations of specific “Chernobyl” diseases among Belarusian children are also included. There are pictures of boys and girls with various genetic defects, seriously damaged nervous system, different abnormalities of internal organs. “Belarus is moving towards a demographic catastrophe,” – mentioned Belarusian scientist.
Bandazhevsky said that Chernobyl is his “true cross”. “For his desire to tell the compatriots the truth about the consequences of this technogenic catastrophe, the scientist had to spend many years in prison, endure physical and mental suffering,” – wrote Thüringische Landeszeitung.

When a german journalist asked him,
whether he hoped to return to his homeland, Bandazhevsky answered: “There is
hope, but today the situation is not in my favour. Because my dream is an
opportunity to work in my native country and have an opportunity to live
unoppressed and have a freedom of speech.”
The head of Weimar Chernobyl initiative Hartmut Koeppler said that he had already spoken with the influential german politicians regarding the provision of the necessary conditions for Bandazhevsky to live and work. Koeppler also intends to propose Bandazhevsky as a new head of this organization on the professor’s 50th birthday, 9th of December. Belarusian scientist and political prisoner is also nominated for Weimar award in human rights.
