EU presented new opportunities for Ukrainian scientists

An Information Day on Energy and Health themes of the EU 7th Framework Programme on Research and Technology Development (FP7) was held in Kharkiv, Ukraine. According to a press release of the EU Delegation to Ukraine, “the Work Programmes for 2012 and new calls for proposals under Energy and Health themes were presented to the Ukrainian researchers”.
The
aim of the Information Day was to equip the Ukrainian scientists with
the knowledge about priorities of the FP7 Work Programme 2012. The FP7
National Contact Points (NCPs) of Ukraine for Energy and Health together
with JSO-ERA experts provided the participants with orientation paper
on new calls. The 2012 calls are expected to be published in July 2011.
The
Information Day was organised by the EU-funded project “Joint Support
Office for Enhancing Ukraine’s Integration into the European Research
Area (JSO-ERA)” in cooperation with the FP7 NCPs of Ukraine for Energy
and Health and the JSO-ERA Regional focal point in Kharkiv.
The
JSO-ERA Project’s main objective is to support the FP7 National Contact
Point of Ukraine (NIP-Ukraine) and facilitate effective FP7 cooperation
between Ukraine’s research communities involved in innovation and
research, and potential European Research Area partner organisations.
FP7
runs from 2007 to 2013 with a total budget of around ? 50 billion. Its
main priority focuses on research directly relevant to the needs of
European industry with a view to enhancing international European
competitiveness and also for society to improve its quality of life.
The
Energy and Health themes are major priorities of the FP7 Cooperation
programme. The EU Member States and the European Parliament have
earmarked a total of ? 2.35 billion for funding Energy and ? 6.1 billion
for funding Health over the duration of FP7.
