Legal protection for persons with disabilities turned out to be in high demand

During the first month the Office on the rights of persons with disabilities received over 180 complaints of citizens.
As reported to "EUROBELARUS" in the Office on the rights of persons with disabilities, only for the period from the 1st to 29th of July, lawyers of the organization accepted for detailed review in total 103 appeals. Given that the Office opened in the end of June, such active start is impressive.
Most people complained about the low standard of
living and social protection issues, namely, about accrue, recalculation of
pensions, social security, housing, benefits and the fundamental rights of
persons with disabilities.
Sufficient number of appeals were for labor and
employment, including labor disputes and employment assistance.
Also there were received complaints on health, sanitation,
provision of drugs, rehabilitation facilities, there were expressed claims to
health authorities.
Extremely relevant were questions about creating
conditions for barrier-free environment, namely the establishment of fixed ramps
in accordance with current technological legal regulations. Most often, its
absence is due to lack of funds and unsuitability of health centers to improve
the rehabilitation of wheelchair users.
