Second publication of the quarterly electronic review of significant developments in the field of Internet freedom, protection of personal data and access to information in Belarus is issued.
In the talk with the EuroBelarus Information Service Darya Katkouskaja, the expert from the Center for Legal Transformation “Lawtrend” explained that such issues as Internet freedom, protection of personal data and access to public information become more and more topical.
- Internet gradually enters into our lives, and, unfortunately, at both legislative and practical level Belarus is lagging behind Europe in the issues of standards and tendencies. That is why we are carrying out different research and expert work. As a part of our work we are carrying out quarterly monitoring of practice and everything that happens in this sphere both in Belarus and internationally”, - she noted.
Discussing the most actual topics of the second Lawtrend publication, Darya Katkouskaja emphasized the following:
- We keep on monitoring the amendments to the law “On Information, Informatization and Information Protection”, which was adopted this autumn in first reading. We also take notice of the practice when citizens are made responsible for various online-activities, such as posting photos about different events. Our task is to monitor, trace, record and comment upon such tendencies.
