About 26,000 Ukrainians have left for Belarus in June-July 2014, Belarusan Ambassador to Ukraine Valentin Velichko said on Monday.

At least 1,500 Ukrainians have permanent resident cards, and almost 3,000 people are waiting for temporary asylum, ITAR-TASS informs with the reference to the Belarus Embassy to Ukraine.

Five hundred people have applied for refugee status, Belarusan Ambassador to Ukraine Valentin Velichko said. “First of all, people need employment. At least 1,500 Ukrainians have a permanent resident card that allows them to apply for a job and study. Almost 3,000 people are waiting for temporary asylum,” he said.

Commenting on the situation in eastern Ukraine, Velichko said, “There will be no aggression against Ukraine from the Belarusan territory.” “Moreover, we won’t allow a third party to unleash aggression against friendly Ukraine from the territory of Belarus,” he said.

Belarus’ position on Ukraine remains unchanged, Velichko said. “There can be no federalization, Ukraine is an integral state, and all problems should be solved in negotiations,” he said.
