Frontman of “Liapis Trubetskoy” and “Brutto” Siarhei Mihalok got Ukraine residence permit

Siarhei Mihalok and his producer, Anton Azizbekyan received the documents from the hands of the Head of the State Migration Service of Ukraine, Serhiy Radutny.

Siarhei Mihalok explained that Lapis' support of revolutionary events in Ukraine is negatively perceived by the authorities of Belarus and Russia, which creates obstacles to the creative process.

Musician Siarhei Mihalok and producer Anton Azizbekyan decided to apply for permanent residence in Ukraine, without giving up the Belarusian citizenship.

As we were reminded by the migration service, in January, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Culture of Ukraine, Vyacheslav Kyrylenko, filed a petition to the Interior Ministry with a request for a residence permit for two Belarusian artists, whose migration as cultural workers is in the interests of Ukraine. It was to maintain the image of Ukraine as a state granting opportunities for people to freely express their views and convictions, including through creative activities. The Prime Minister urged to take into account the position of the group in helping the Ukrainian Revolution of dignity and collective contribution to the Ukrainian music, Belsat informs with the reference to UNIAN.

The State Migration Service noted that the residence gives foreigners the right to reside permanently in Ukraine and enjoy the same rights and freedoms as well as bear the same duties as citizens of Ukraine, except the right to elect and be elected to the authorities, to work on public service and so on.

In Belarus, the group Liapis Trubetskoy has long been in the "black list" of musicians who do not have the perform in the country.
