Hleb Vaikul, the participant of the student protest told about it in the video appeal.
Hleb Vaikul is the participant of the student march of “Love and Solidarity” – the protest that took place in Minsk on December 2, 2015.
In his video appeal the activist says that he has no regrets about his participation in the protest action and slams the authorities of the Belarusian State University:
“The Assembly of the BSU is just simulating students’ self-governance. In fact, this body does not act for students and has no real power,”Belsat quotes him saying.
As the “EuroBelarus” Information Service recalls, the student march of “Love and Solidarity” aimed at abolishing the decision to introduce fees for repeating exams and tests in the Belarusian State University. By staging this rally, the students wanted to force the leadership of the university to ‘abolish paid retakes and detentions’, ‘stop the pressure on students’, ‘dissolve the Assembly of the Belarusian State University and ‘create a new body of student government’.
No one was detained but the city police draw up administrative protocols on several participants, including Hleb Vaikul.
Later he was fined Br 3.24 mln for violating the order of holding mass events and expelled from Philology Faculty on grounds of alleged poor progress.
According to the student, the real reason of his being withdrawn is his public activity.
“I took part in the march demanding to stop pressurizing students for their social activism. I made a stand against the lies of BSU Rector SiarheiAblameika,” Hleb Vaikul stressed.
