Belarus takes part in the 60th session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women

The delegation of Belarus is headed by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Alena Kupchyna.

On March 14, 2016 the regular 60th session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women started at the UN Headquarters in New York.

Delegation of Belarus will prioritize the promotion of the UN system’s stronger support of the role of the family and traditional values as an important factor of sustainable development. These issues are consonant with the main theme of the session, which is dedicated to interrelation between gender equality and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, the press service of the Foreign Ministry informs.

At the session the delegation of Belarus will take part in a ministerial roundtable discussion where will highlight systemic government measures taken in Belarus to strengthen the role of women in the society, and will present national perspective on the methods of improving this activity at the international level.

The Commission will continue its work until March 24 2016.
