Lukashenka has appointed new ambassadors to a number of countries.
Aliaksandr Lukashenka appointed Aliaksandr Averyanau as Ambassador to Poland and assigned Aliaksandr Karol to serve as Ambassador to Lithuania; Andrei Savinykh as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Turkey with concurrent accreditation to Iraq; Viktar Kazintsau as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Argentina, reports BelTA.
Besides, Dmitry Kuptel was appointed as an Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Ethiopia, Resident Representative of Belarus in the African Union, Resident Representative of Belarus in the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) and the United Nations Human Settlements Program (UN-HABITAT) on concurrent.
Andrei Jeudachenka is assigned to be an Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus with concurrent accreditation to Luxembourg; Vladimir Chushau - an Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Montenegro with concurrent accreditation to Macedonia; Alexander Hainouski – an Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Bosnia and Herzegovina on concurrent.
The President also approved the appointment of Siarhei Mihnevich, formerly head of a division at the foreign ministry’s External Economic Activity Department, to serve as consul general in Gdansk.
Presenting candidates for ambassadorial positions, Belarusian Foreign Minister Uladzimir Makei remarked that most of them have second university degrees in economics, which is particularly important taking into account the head of state’s instruction to raise export.
According to the presidential press office, virtually all the appointed ambassadors will work as heads of diplomatic missions for the first time.
