Yesterday, on June 9, Belarusan President Aliaksandr Lukashenka gave an interview to Serbian mass media – the Politika daily and the state television and radio company Radio Television of Serbia.
“Why would I be mad at the West? I understand very well what they want from me and what they want from Belarus. I will never agree to that and I will never let them run the show here,” was Lukashenka’s answer to the question about the Western criticism of Belarusan politics.
“I often emphasize that it is more important for me that a young mother will be able to go out late in the evening and take her baby for a walk without being afraid that some thugs will stop her and start torturing. I want families to have a decent living, give birth to kids. It is more important for me than to go to the European Union and crack a smile there,” Aliaksandr Lukashenka said.
Special attention was given to further evolution of the Eurasian Economic Union, its attractiveness for other countries, press-service of the President learned.
Particularly, Lukashenka spoke about the “huge” attention of the countries-partners to the new interstate formation. ““The treaty between the three states attracts a lot of attention even at the stage of signing. I do not speak about China. We already maintain a dialogue and cooperate with this country. Today Vietnam, India and other countries are interested in the union. Even Serbia is interested in the association. I am convinced that Ukraine will cooperate with the union,” – said the Belarusan leader.
He said Belarus would likely face economic tightening not only as a result of the coronavirus pandemic but also a Russian trade oil crisis that worsened this past winter.
