Among all foreign leaders, Ukrainians support Lukashenka the most

62% of the respondents in Ukraine said they have positive attitude towards the head of Belarus Aliaksandr Lukashenka, 54% in favor of US President Barak Obama, 51% for German Chancellor Angela Merkel. Only 16% said they are supportive of Russian President Vladimir Putin, Euroradio cites UNIAN. Putin tops in the negative territory, with 75% of the respondents against him. For comparison, only 26% said treat Lukashenka negatively (32% against Merkel, and 31% against Obama).
The survey was conducted on 9-19 August 2014, Belsat informs. Taking part in it were Ukrainian residents 18 years old and older. The coverage error is within 2.8%.
45% of the respondents had a positive attitude to Bronislaw Komorowski, 39% to Jose Manuel Barroso, and 36% to DaliaGrybauskaitė.
Residents of the western, central and northern regions have a more favorable attitude to Barack Obama, Angela Merkel, Bronislaw Komorowski, Jose Manuel Barroso, Dalia Grybauskaitė and Francois Hollande. Residents of the southern and eastern parts of the country have a better attitude to Aliaksandr Lukashenka and Nursultan Nazarbaev. The residents of the south also named Angela Merkel among most trusted politicians. Vladimir Putin enjoys support in Donbas only.
Ukrainians turned out to be very tolerant to citizens of other countries. Their attitude to them is much better than the attitude to the leaders of these countries. Ukrainians have the most positive attitude to Belarusians (53% definitely positive and 41% rather positive). The attitude to Russians is worse (39% definitely positive and 33% rather positive).
