National Bank claims that the financial situation in Belarus has significantly improved

The optimistic statement about the cardinal improvement of the situation at financial market was made by Pavel Kallaur, Chairman of the Board of the National Bank of the Republic of Belarus.
According to the head of the National Bank, negative tendencies in the economy were surmounted in January. At that time “certain problems that accumulated on the currency market and the financial market on the whole in December 2014”. At the same time the situation on the currency market and on the deposit market radically stabilized in February, BelTA informs.
Kallaur noted that the demand of individuals and corporations for foreign currency is satisfied in full.
Pavel Kallaur recalled that all the temporary restrictions on lending that were introduced in late 2014 were removed, and new approaches to lending have been discussed with the banking system directly.
He said Belarus would likely face economic tightening not only as a result of the coronavirus pandemic but also a Russian trade oil crisis that worsened this past winter.
