Belarus’, Russia’s, and Ukraine’s joint action against terrorism continues unabated

And that happens despite current political disagreements between Russia and Ukraine, claimed Belarus’ chief of financial monitoring department of Belarusian Committee for State Control.

Belarusian Committee for State Control and the fiscal intelligence services in Russia and Ukraine have probed into a possibility of supplying finance to illegal paramilitary groupings via the territory of Belarus, Viachaslau Reut, the chief of the committee’s financial monitoring department told reporters on July 22.

"In spite of the current political disagreements between Russia and Ukraine, our joint action with these countries in the sphere of antiterrorist struggle continues unabated. We have a close contact with all the antiterrorist agencies there," TASS quotes him saying in the interview with journalists earlier this week.

Reut said specifically that the Belarusian Committee for State Control "has probed into a number of facts of a hypothetical transit of finances via Belarus in cooperation with the Russian and Ukrainian fiscal intelligence services to rule out the financing of illegal activity of undergrounds groupings."

"It’s another story that the identification of who is a terrorist and who is not is a rather complicated process and the countries should come to terms with each other on it," Reut said. "On our part, we’re an agency that operates proven facts only."

"We establish the possible facts," he said. "All the reports we get are verified to find out if terrorist groups might be involved. Counteraction to the financing of the Islamic State terrorist grouping has been stepped up around the globe."
