Yury Chyzh is crossed out of EU’s black list

The EU Court in Luxembourg on October 6 annulled asset freeze measures imposed in 2012 on a Belarusian tycoon, and two of his firms, Triple and Dynamo Minsk.

It said the EU Council "provided no evidence" Chizh financially supported Belarus' authoritarian rulers in return for business concessions, euobserver.com says.

Let us recall that Yury Chyzh is in the top positions in the ‘Ranking of the most successful and influential businessmen in Belarus. He is believed to be a close and loyal friend of Aliaksandr Lukashenka, Belsat writes. In 2012 the European Union introduced the visa restrictions on Yury Chyzh and targeted sanctions against his companies.

As “EuroBelarus” Information Service has earlier informed, in July 2015, the Council of the European Union decided to exclude 24 Belarusian citizens from the list of persons regarding whom sanctions apply. Among them are both former and current officials - Natalia Piatkevich (the former assistant to the president of Belarus), Leanid Maltsau (Chairman of the State Border Committee), Henadz Niavyhlas (the former head of the Presidential Administration), Anatol Rubinau (former chairman of the National Assembly), Yauhen Paludzen (former Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs), officials, judges, and university heads.
