Enhancing efficient judicial systems in the Eastern Partnership

‘Enhancing Judicial Reform in the Eastern Partnership Countries’, a joint programme financed by the EU and implemented by the Council of Europe, held its first working meeting in Strasbourg recently.

The objective of the project is supporting the ongoing process of reform of the judiciary systems in Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine.

The progamme working group purposes at improving the situation with judicial system in the EaP countries against European standards, as regards the court system financing (including the management of courts’ funding) and court debts (case flow and judicial time management).

Country discussions with stakeholders and representatives of the judicial community are to be held in 2013 by the working group, engaging representatives of ministries of justice and judicial self-governing bodies in order to further disseminate the findings on the courts’ productivity and judiciary reports and raising awareness.
