EU and Ukraine are signing Association Agreement today

President of the European Council Herman Van Rompuy will sign the document from the European side, and Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk will sign the document from the Ukrainian side.

"We are already going to sign with the prime minister of Ukraine the political provision of the association agreement and seal the strong political partnership that brings Ukraine and the European Union closer together," – emphasized European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso.

"This is the democratic choice that Ukraine has made. It is our firm intention to sign the remaining parts of the agreement in due course. Europe is committed to Ukraine for the long term," quotes RFE/RL his words.

Only the political part of the EU association agreement will be signed on March 21. The trade part of the EU accord, which is the bulk of the treaty, is to be signed after May.
 
The signing ceremony is set for 9.30 am (10.30 am Kyiv time).
