Catherine Ashton: Meeting in Minsk is an opportunity that should not be missed

The meeting of Ukraine’s and Russia’s Presidents in Minsk is a good opportunity for settling the Ukrainian crisis, claimed Ashton at the European Political Forum in Alpbach (Austria).

The meeting between the Russian and Ukrainian presidents in Minsk is a good opportunity to settle the Ukraine crisis, High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Aston said on Sunday, August 24, ITAR-TASS quotes her saying.

“This is your country, you make decisions and you chose your future. You have elected your President and the way that you will follow. You need friendly relations with European neighbours and Russia,” she aid.

Let us recall that the Customs Union–EU–Ukraine meeting was held in Minsk on August 26. Vladimir Putin, Petro Poroshenko, Aliaksandr Lukashenka, Nursultan Nazarbaev, Catherine Ashton, European Commissioner for Energy Günther Oettinger and European Commissioner for Trade Karel De Gucht took part in it.
