The 2012 prize will reward civil society projects which have proved that innovative initiatives in sustainable production and/or consumption have led to the creation of green jobs in Europe.
The aim of the Civil Society Prize, which is awarded annually, is to reward and encourage concrete initiatives and achievements of civil society organisations, which have significantly contributed to promoting European identity and integration. Its overall objective is to raise awareness of the contribution which civil society organisations can make to the creation of a European identity and citizenship, capable of underpinning the common values which shore up European integration.
The prize, of a total value of EUR 30 000 and which will be awarded on 12 December 2012, is open to civil society organisations, at European, national, regional and local levels, established in the European Union.
